Thank You!To The Arizona Community
We would like to thank Arizona and especially the Flagstaff community for its continued support of our fundraisers. Because of your commitment to us, our club is able to help many individuals and programs around the great state of Arizona.
2020 Title Sponsor
In 2019, we have been able to provide over 1900 individuals with eye exams and eyeglasses and assist with eye screenings at St. Francis de Asis School. We also recycle your eyeglasses, so that those in need can receive them.
Our club is also one of the main Lions sponsors for, a fully accredited camp, or individuals with special needs in Pinetop/Lakeside. In 2019, we sponsored 20 campers and provided funding for operations and maintenance. So far, we have sponsored 30 campers for the summer of 2020.
Lions Clubs also sponsor in Rochester Hills, MI. This program provides dogs, training and support for individuals around the country. We have several Arizona recipients. This program gives freedom and confidence to the blind. Our club contributes annually to this wonderful facility.
Our club also supports local youth programs. We give them opportunities to work at our fundraisers and in return, we help their programs. With the funds that we raise, we support:
CHS Culinary Program
NAU – NSMH
FHS Welding Program
Boys and Girls Club
Post High School Vocational Education Scholarship Fund
Funds used for these projects come from the following fundraisers:
Fishing 4 Funds Tournament at Roosevelt Lake
Annual Raffle Calendar Sales
Fishing 4 Funds began in 1986 as the Lamar Haines Fishing Tournament bringing together a group of business owners to enjoy the outdoors and raise money for the Flagstaff community. Along the way the Tournament’s name was changed to Fishing 4 Funds, and in 2012, the Flagstaff Sunrise Lions Club took on the event and began evolving it into a family-oriented, old-fashioned fishing tournament.
The event is organized and staffed by volunteers allowing 100% of the proceeds to go to Northern Arizona’s and Lions Club International‘s non-profit organizations and programs such providing eye exams and eyeglasses to those in need, Lions Camp Tatiyee which is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with special needs, Leader Dog Program, as well as community projects that support local children and schools through scholarships and mentoring, feed the hungry, and aide our seniors.
For more information on Fishing 4 Funds or to become a sponsor, contact Buddy Lawson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
It’s that simple, and it’s been that simple since Lions Club International began in 1917. Our Club, the Flagstaff Sunrise Lions consists of men, women, and youth from all walks of life who give their valuable time and efforts to improve our community and the world. In addition to supporting a wide array of Northern Arizona non-profit organizations, especially those that provide sight and hearing services, which carry out the Lions Club International’s mission, we support international programs including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange and Lions Quest.
The Flagstaff Sunrise Lions Club meets every Tuesday morning from 6:45 – 7:30 a.m. at Mike and Rhonda’s west side location. Come join us at a meeting to learn more about our Club, as well as volunteer opportunities at events we host and support throughout the year like the Flagstaff Demolition Derby, Bi-annual Property Auction, Camp Tatiyee, and Fishing 4 Funds.
